Exhausted! By Beverly F. Jones

I know when I have read enough. 

When I've read enough, 

my eyes water,

my eyelids become heavy,

the words on the pages become indistinguishable, 

and my head tilts south. 

When my head tilts south, 

my glasses flop down and rest securely on the tip of my nose. 

When my glasses flop down,

I become alert. 

You can tell I'm alert because 

I stare for one second, 

sit up straight, 

put my bookmark between the last page I read,

quickly close my book, 

stand up, 

grab my microphone, 

and begin telling amazing stories of how I'd never fall asleep on a great book!
